Non-Violent Protest is a criminal ACT - "FREEDOM OF SPEECH" - Not for Muslims especially if speaker is Israeli.
“It's a sad day for democracy when nonviolent protestors are criminalized by their government and are found guilty for exercising a constitutional right,” said Salam Al-Marayati, MPAC President. “You can heckle the President, you can heckle high ranking government officials, but if you heckle an Israeli diplomat you will be prosecuted. When Muslims Speak Out or Protest in America they are Arrested and Prosecuted!!! Islamophobia Out of Control.
What Happened:
"Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren was in the United States in February of this year attempting to hoodwink college students into believing that Israel was a democracy. These students of Palestinian and Arab descent not only know better as people of conscience and as people who read between the lines of news reports, they also know, based on the first hand experience of themselves or of their families.
Oren was sent here as part of the Israeli "re-branding" campaign to polish its image - an image only slightly tarnished in the US by the murder and injury of thousands of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip at the turn of the 2008-9 new year.
How do you rebrand the image of a country that is condemned by more UN Human Rights Council resolutions than any other country in the world? You do so by silencing the truth tellers, by denying the truth and calling those who tell it liars and criminals - and that is what we see happening right now. Prosecution attempts to depoliticise Oren's speech and this trial ring hollow."
The Truth:
"At most, these students are guilty of displaying a lack of courtesy by interrupting Oren, ..."
"The United States ... is also spending well into the six figures to prosecute these students who spoke against it. This is a "selective and discriminatory" investigation and prosecution of Muslim students - because it was an Israeli official speaking, and because it was Muslims who protested."
Examples of actions not arrested or prosecuted, funny how they were all done by NON-Muslims:
"On the very same day that the trial opened against these Muslim students for speaking out against the Israeli ambassador's lies, two non-Muslim women disrupted the speech of former US Vice President Dick Cheney - also in Orange County. Those women were not arrested or prosecuted. Several months before that, three non-Muslim women disrupted the speech of former US President George W Bush - also in Orange County. They were not arrested or prosecuted."

At the 30th annual Carter Town Hall on Wednesday, former President Jimmy Carter told his audience he thought the Supreme Court decision to roll back restrictions on corporate spending in federal campaigns was "one of the stupidest rulings ever consummated or perpetrated on the American people."

...we have had "peace talks for the last 20 years. Actually, three days ago, four days ago, we had the 18th anniversary of the Oslo Accords that were signed in 1993. What did we get as Palestinians in return of all the peace agreement that we made with Israel?
Israel planting our territories with illegal settlements. Israel refusal to sit down engage with us in a genuine, meaningful negotiations to end the conflict. We have been urging the Israelis to talk about security and borders, and the Israeli government - for more than one reason - are adamant about refusing to sit down with the Palestinians to discuss an end to the conflict."

VIDEO: Growing up Muslim in post-9/11 America & My Broken Promise
In Nashville, TN, in Sept. 2000, I brought my 3 boys to the State Fair for the first time. My oldest could ride the bumper cars but my second son was not tall enough. He just barely missed the height requirement. So I promised that I would bring them to the State Fair the next year. Throughout the year they kept asking and looking forward to the fair... I kept promising them I would bring them. I hardly ever make promises to the kids... we usually say, "We will see." But the fair was so much fun for them, I was homeschooling, and the wristband was something I knew we could afford.
"I promise."
But as Fate would have it... Sept. 11th happened and the kids were still begging to go and I couldn't explain why we couldn't go. I didn't want to scare them or make them afraid to go outside like me.The video below reminded me of my broken promise. Ten years later and we still have not gone to another State Fair.
